Jammu: Week after five people including a photojournalist were killed in an encounter between army jawans and infiltrators in Samba district, a group of infiltrator today again made a determined bid to enter the Indian territory from Gambhir area in Rajouri this morning. However, their attempt were foiled by the Gorkha Rifles deployed in the area .
According to the Defence PRO, Col.Goswami,men of the Gurkha Rifles,guarding the border,opened fire when they spotted militants trying to sneak into the Indian territory, killing one militant.
Unofficial reports claims that a week ago six infiltrators were able to cross into the Jammu sector from across Kas Baleri area in Mendhar sector of Poonch. The ingress was reportedly spotted by the civilians who then informed the intelligence sleuths. However,the Army authorities denied these reports.
The authorities said that the security grid had been further strengthened all across the state and on the entire India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir. They said that the troops guarding the border had been instructed to open fire once they spot militants trying to sneak into the Indian territory.
