Guwahati: Prime Minster Manmohan Singh on Tuesday inaugurated the Tata Consultancy Service Training Centre at IIT Guwahati. Many leading IT experts and intellectuals was present at the function. During his two day visit to the state Prime Minister also visited the flood affected world heritage site Majuli Island and laid the foundation of Jorhat Medical College
Addressing a press conference, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, "Assam and the entire Northeast are always on the high list of recruitment in the other IT zones of the country. Many students north-eastern region move outside the region to the states like Bangaluru, Delhi and Hyderabad but from now the entire region will have the facility to adequate themselves with the latest IT trend at their locality."
State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said, " The TCS has been partnering with the NE states to implement several e-governance projects. TCS have also included the distisation of the Assam Tresury and Assam Public Works Department has enhanced transparency and efficiency in Government process to benefit the state economy."
Present on the occasion, TCS, MD S Ramadoroi said that TCS is happy to be associated with Assam. "TCS is committed to develop the talents of the country and it will also extend its service to the abundant talents of the region."
"It will surely help the people one day Assam and the entire north east will grow to the IT industry like the other states," said an IT student, attending the event.
