New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday issued show cause notice to Ten Sports for not sharing feed of India-Sri Lanka One-Day International (ODI) matches with public broadcaster Doordarshan (DD) in alleged violation of government orders.
A division bench of Justices Manmohan Sarin and Veena Birbal sought response from Ten Sports by Tuesday on a petition filed by cricket lover Ravi Dev Gupta asking the state-run Prasar Bharati to telecast the remaining two matches of the current India-Sri Lanka ODI series.
The petitioner contended that the government had issued notification on October 3, 2007 under Sports Broadcasting Signals (Mandatory Sharing of Feed with Prasar Bharati), according to which ODIs and Twenty20 matches involving India were declared as matches of national importance.
The feed of these matches, according to the notification, should be shared with Prasar Bharati by the respective telecast rights owner. The Bench said that they would pass ex-parte interim order if the channel failed to file its response by Tuesday. (IANS)
