New Delhi: The marathon all party meeting convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Jammu and Kashmir appealed the people to end the communal tension in the region and bring back the situation to normalcy.

It was also suggested in the meeting that an all-party committee will be formed, which would visit the state very soon to assess the situation of the region. The city has been under complete shutdown and curfew has been imposed for the past fourteen days following a massive agitation spearheaded by the Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti over the issue of land revocation, earlier allotted to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

While briefing the media-persons after the meeting, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said, "The all party meeting was of the unanimous view that an environment must be created where the agitation could be suspended and the issue resolved through the process of dialogue." The Minister also assured the Amarnath pilgrims that they will be provided with all sorts of facilities, which they have been enjoying so far. Mukherjee also ruled out the speculations of Governor N N Vohra to be removed from his post.

Leaders of all major political parties attended the meeting which suggested to initiate the process of dialogue immediately that would facilitate the suspension of the agitation and its peaceful resolution.
