Significance of Holi

The festival of Holi has always been the uniting factor in India. It may look a gay and carefree festival but when it comes to bonding across the many differences nothing can match the spirit of Holi. The colours make every difference and a matchless equality appears. On the day of Holi there is no bar of religion, colour, caste, creed or age. It makes people remove their control and makes the best out of everyone. This is why each and everyone celebrate this festival. Children love to colour each other with the Pichkaris and balloons, Young boys and girls are out of all reservations and drown each other with the colours and olds feel young in the presence of Holi. People throw colours on everybody shouting ‘ Bura na mano Holi hai” (don’t mind it is Holi).

The legends associated with the festival signify that ‘truth and devotion’ is ultimate winner in the long run. And no matter how strong the evil may appear it will be defeated by the power of truthfulness. It is also a festival, which celebrates the most immortal love story of all time. The great love of Krishna and Radha for each other is a legend. The colours signify love.
