Hijacked ship crew, including 3 Indians, set free |

| Kasaragod: All the crew members including three Indians of an Iranian cargo ship hijacked by sea pirates off the Somalian coast on August 21 were set free today, sources said. Jeevan Kiran D'Souza (28), one of the three Indians, rang up his residence near the border town of Uppala, about 20 KM from here, around 1.30 pm and said that the entire crew members were set free and would be back home within a week, Jeevan's father Ligouri D'Souza said.
The crew were set free probably after paying unspecified amount of money to the sea pirates who had sought Rs 200 crore ransom from the Iranian shipping company to release them, D'Souza, quoting his son, said. "My son has informed that he would call his family after crossing 100 nautical miles and we are expecting his call any time," a relieved D'Souza said adding that the other Indian crew members hailed from Ratnagiri in Maharashtra and Goa.
"For almost a week my son had suffered agony in the mid sea due to lack of proper medical treatment," he said. The Iranian ship 'Iran Senate' with 24 crew members hailing from countries including Iran, Pakistan, Philippines was hijacked by the sea robbers on August 21 off the Somalian coast and were stranded in the mid sea since then.
