New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan turns 66 today. The Shehanshah of Indian film industry rose to stardom in 1973 with Prakash Mehra's 'Zanjeer' after a series of flops. Starting his film career with Saat Hindustani, Amitabh has worked in more than 200 films and has been entertaining the audience with his histrionics for last four decades. Some of his movies that has became milestone in Amitabh's career are Deewar (1975), Don (1977), Kabhie Kabhi (1976), Agneepath (1990), and Black (2005).

In his long career, Amitabh has won seven Filmfare and two National awards. His first Filmfare award came in his bag for his stupendous performance in Aanand (1971) in which he shared the screen with then superstar Rajesh Khanna. Amazed with the success of his first private album Aby Baby in (1996), Indian media gave Amitabh a nickname Big B.

The actor also joined politics in mid-eighties and was elected MP from Allahabad. But, following the implication of the infamous Bofors scam, Amitabh detached himself from politics. However, Amitabh still have many friends in the Indian politics, including Samajwadi Party leaders Amar Singh and Mulayam Singh.

Amitabh experienced the worst phase of his life in mid nineties after the failure of his company ABCL, which put him under heavy debt. It was the time when, he was also loosing his stardom as all his films were proving a box office dud. But things changed for him in the new millennium with the super success of his game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (2000) that changed the purview of Indian small screen. It was the same year when Amitabh won accolades for his acting in Mohabbatein that brought him another filmfare award and several film offers. He also proved his mettle by playing a teacher of a handicap girl in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black (2005) and won his second National award after fifteen year, winning first in 1990 for Agneepath.

Big B is one of the costliest and only Indian actor who is doing lead roles in movies at such an old age. On his 66th birth anniversary, Headlinesindia wishes this superstar a very Happy Birthday.
