New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University is about the get another mixed hostel having accommodation for both boys and girls. The hostel, which is named Koyana, would be fifth such hostel in the university campus. About 70 per cent work of the 272-room hostel is complete.
Giving the information Dean of Students Welfare V K Jain told
Headlines India that despite having 15 hostels, the university was facing a shortage of 600 to 700 beds for providing full accommodation to its students.
"Students are staying in adjustments with other fellow students. Though JNU is distinctly ahead in comparison with other universities in Delhi in terms of number of hostels, still there is shortfall of about 45 per cent rooms," said Jain.
JNU has 15 hostels at present in which two are for girls, four are mixed and seven are for boys along with one each for married and for working women. The upcoming hostel 'Koyana' would be located in the Pachimakhand (western side) of the university.
