Mumbai: Telecom firm Tata Communications Ltd (TCL) today said that it has formed a partnership for network services with a Chinese company to offer increased connectivity to its Indian and global customers. TCL said it had signed an agreement with China Enterprise Netcom Corp (China Entercom) to expand its global virtual private network (VPN).

VPN is a form of communication over public telephone infrastructure that emulates private networks in terms of security. TCL and China Entercom have connected their respective infrastructures, allowing TCL customers VPN connectivity.

"Tata Communications' agreement with China Entercom allows us to serve our many global and Indian MNC customers," said Vinod Kumar, president of global data and mobility services at TCL.

CENC, a subsidiary of China International Trust and Investment Corp, offers telecommunications services and IT solutions.

TCL competes with telecom majors such as AT&T and Verizon in its international operations and with companies such as Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications in India.

The company said its network connects North America, Europe and Asia, offering customers connectivity to over 195 countries. (IANS)
