New Delhi: The commendable tied second finish at the Indonesia Open reaped a major gain for young golfer Shiv Kapur, who leaped 28 places to be at 158th spot in the latest World Golf rankings. Kapur, who had missed the cut in the previous week's Malaysian Open, experienced contrasting fortune in Indonesia where he notched up his first top-10 finish after 2006's fifth place performance at Barclays Singapore Open. Ace Indian Jeev Milkha Singh continued to slide in the ranking ladder even though he did not play any tournament last week, thanks to the shake-up at the top. The Chandigarh-based player slipped two places to be at 44th spot.
Jyoti Randhawa, the other Indian in the top 100, also took a week's off but came down one position to be at 89th. Tiger Woods kept up his supremacy as the top-ranked golfer in the world. He was followed by fellow American Jim Furyk. But, in a major change in the top-10, Phil Mickelson, by virtue of his second place feat at the Nissan Open, pushed Australian Adam Scott to fourth slot to make it 1-2-3 for the USA in the rankings.(PTI)
